For a Project Handmade 2014

This year will be the second production of Project Handmade.  If you were lucky enough to see the first show in 2012 you saw what great fibers, creativity, design and execution happens in this local fiber shed.

Project Handmade is sponsored by Local Cloth ( as a way of  showcasing the breadth and talent of local artists, fiber animal farmers and small scale fiber mills.  Just as Asheville is known for its "Eat Local" campaign, we strive to make the people think differently about the fiber and clothing in their life.  Below is the mission and vision of Local Cloth.

  • Mission: To support and sustain the regional fiber and textile arts economy and professions in the Blue Ridge Mountains through collaboration, education and innovation.
  • Vision: To grow the fiber economy in the southern appalachian region within 100 miles of the project’s Asheville headquarters, focusing on craft artists, fiber animal farmers and small scale fiber mills and processing businesses.

Submission Date

JUNE 15, 2014

OK - hopefully winter is finally on its way out and June will be here sooner than you think - especially if you are lured to the plants and flower gardens after the long winter.

Are you dyeing, weaving, felting, spinning, quilting, knitting or raising and preparing fibers?

The theme is Texture and Movement for your inspiration.
